Amigos de las Americas: Chicago North Chapter
Amigos de las Americas is a non-profit organization. The local chapters are operated and managed by parents and others through volunteer service to the organization. Only the Trainers receive a financial stipend. The Chicago North Chapter operates throughout the year to provide the wide array of services and activities necessary to adequately prepare Amigos Volunteers to enter the field in the summer.
The chapter is managed and operated by a board of directors with the help of parents of this year’s volunteers. Parental participation by at least one parent is required for all volunteers in the program. This participation also enables parents to fully understand and become comfortable with all aspects of the Amigos program. Finally it provides wonderful opportunities for getting to know a variety of talented, committed people.
Four parent meetings are held during the year and attendance is required:
Sunday, Dec 2 Family Pot-luck, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 9 Rules, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 13 Medical/Packing, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
The following is a description of the parent tasks. Please review and check which role(s) you and/or your partner would be interested in taking on. The Board makes parent assignments balancing the overall needs of the chapter, and tries to consider your abilities and interests.
